Tasting Notes A "Vin Gris" in all the best connotations of that very French wine style. The color is gem-like and the nose is a burst of floral/fruit pleasure. The first taste is surprising in richness, filling the mouth delightfully with substance but little weight. An amazing burst of rasberry enhances the lingering finish that is a compliment to the exellence of the winemaker. The addition of tiny amounts of white varietals lightened the color slightly and added to the floral components of the wine. While designed as a complement to a lovely lunch, this wine can easily stand on its own or with cheese of equal character.

Taken about an hour after the Syrah crush, one barrel of gorgeous deep pink juice was transferred to a two year old oak barrel. After moving slowly through primary fermentation, the temperature of the wine was slightly raised and the wine was coaxed through a complete secondary(malolactic)fermentation. Approximately four months after harvest, final tasting was done and a decision was made to blend with 1.0% Viognier and 1.0% Chardonnay. This time honored practice worked it's magic and produced a magnificent wine. After cold stabilization and final clarification, bottling was finished in the last week of April 2004.
