2002 Silver Pines Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc

Tasting Notes
A lovely wine, fresh on the palate with great citrus fruit flavor. Bright full nose and lovely color and a short but charming finish.  These characteristics gave us guidance for the fabulous 2003 vintage that we have just released. We were able to slip the 2002 vintage into the 2004 Grand Harvest Awards competition to get some independent assessment and were rewarded with scores of 15,15,16,17,15. These scores gave us a Bronze Medal in a competition where less than 50% of the almost 1500 wines tasted received a medal.

Winemaking Notes
An experimental wine made from the very small (0.8 tons) production that was allowed to mature on our young vines.  Custom crushed at Matanzas Creek Winery and created by winemaker Gary Patzwald, this wine was fermented on 100% neutral oak on which it rested 10 months after having completed  secondary fermentation. 48 cases were produced.
